Thorlabs' off-axis parabolic (OAP) mirrors are first surface mirrors, the reflecting surface is a section cut from a parent paraboloid. They are capable of focusing collimated beams or collimating divergent light sources aberration-free, their off-axis design allows the focus to be spatially separated from the optical axis. The reflective design eliminates the phase delay and absorption losses that are introduced by transmissive optical elements
